Last minute meals=GONE!!!

After being inspired and motivated by my dear friend Nicole...I have decided to start planning our weekly menu! It seems like every night we are last minute trying to decide what we want to eat. It makes dinner a bit frustrating and we usually end up eating way too late. The plan is to start planning ahead! :-) I sure hope I will stick to it. I decided I wanted to make a little board to help me stay organized with our week of meals.
Here is what I did...

Here is the board I bought from Joann's...
with a 60% of coupon!

I picked this fabric to make a pocket on the cork side of the board.

I cut out a square for the pocket.

I ironed down the sides of the pocket.

I stapled the pocket down to the cork board. The pocket will hold index cards that I can make notes on or if I find new recipes that I want to use for that week.

I also added larger index cards on the top of the cork board for my weekly shopping list. I attached it on the board with a clip, so I can easily take the cards down or add new cards.

Lastly, I wrote out each day of the week so I can fill in our meal for that day!

Nathan hit the big 3-0!

Very busy weekend...but lots of fun! Nathan was on shift Thursday, so when he got home from work Friday morning, me and Nate had a big breakfast feast ready for him to chow down on. We made cat head biscuits and gravy, eggs, grits, bacon, fresh pineapple, orange juice and of course some chocolate milk, which is Nathan's favorite! I quickly ate a bite or two with him, but had to leave for work. Nathan and Nate spent the day together, without me :-( Friday night, we went to Nathan's grandmother's house for the best gumbo...it is always so good! Nathan's great Aunt Jo came in town for a visit from Cullman, AL so we had all the family together. It was a double celebration for Aunt Jo's visit and Nathan's birthday. We ended up staying late so we decided to spend the night at Nathan's parents' house instead of driving home. Saturday morning we got up and went to yard sales with Nathan's parents, searching for some junk! And we found a few good deals :-) It was a great weekend!

Go Troy!!

We finally made it to a Troy University football game! Nathan and I both graduated from Troy and Nathan was a cheerleader, so we are big Trojan fans! This past Saturday, Troy came to Mobile to play against the University of South Alabama for the first time. It was nice to see Troy play and only have to drive about 30 minutes :) The weather wasn't the prettiest but we still had a great time sitting in the rain! And of course...the Sound of the South marching band sounded awesome, as always!
We were trying to stay dry!
Me and my friend Katelyn! And you gotta love Nathan's pucker lips in the background! :)

This cute couple sitting in front of us didn't have a single bit of rain gear...oh wait...yes they did! They had their printed ticket to keep the rain off their head :)
Too Cute!
We ended the night at a place Nathan and I love, especially their spinach dip! The first time we ate at a Cheddar's restaurant was in Tennessee with my friend Micah. Since Cheddar's just opened in Mobile, we decided we were going to eat there, regardless how long the wait was. We ended up spending about 3 1/2 hours or so there Lol! But it was a fun day with good food and great friends!
